Antenna/Array Engineer

Job Description

The successful Antenna/Array Engineer candidate will perform the following job functions: 

  • Develop, design and analyze innovative arrays and related RF subsystems that meet and exceed demanding requirements for the US defense and aerospace market.  
  • Identify promising new R&D projects.  Develop, write and win innovative proposals and successfully execute and lead the research, design and development activities of the project. 
  • Develop unique solutions to complex antenna/array problems based on conventional and proprietary materials and manufacturing techniques.  Include service and support requirements as part of the development process.  Be able to communicate solutions to complicated problems through written and oral presentations. 
  • Leverage the synergistic tools, skills and experience of SI2’s multidisciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical materials, etc.). Work individually and with SI2’s team of engineers, program management and subcontractors to develop innovative array and related RF subsystem solutions. 
  • Be the principal technical point of contact with customers and partners. 
  • Occasionally travel to meet with customers, partners, and other related parties. 

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and proficiencies:

  • US citizenship is required.  Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. 
  • A MS degree in electrical engineering or related field with 4+ years experience, or a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or related field with 1+ years experience. 
  • Experience writing, winning and executing R&D contracts and grants, e.g. BAAs, SBIRs, etc., as a Principal Investigator on DoD and/or other US Government programs.
  • Competency in antenna/array design and/or array front-end electronic system design.  Background in analysis of advanced concepts for active phased array and broadband antenna systems. Conformal and/or low profile antenna and array experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of military communications and radar systems. 
  • Proficiency with 3-D RF and circuit modeling tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft HFSS, MatLab and internally developed software tools.
  • Must have good organizational, presentation and writing skills; be self motivated, creative, open to new ideas, enjoy teamwork and excel in a dynamic multi-tasking, small business environment.
