January 2, 2020 – Joseph Kunze, President of SI2 Technologies, was recently appointed to the Commonwealth’s Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative by Mike Kennealy, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development under the Baker-Polito Administration.
Created in 2011, the goal of the collaborative is to develop and implement the state’s manufacturing agenda and to foster and strengthen conditions necessary for growth and innovation of manufacturing across the Commonwealth.
“Massachusetts is home to nearly 7,000 manufacturing companies and many of them are relying on advanced and emerging technologies and the associated workforce to remain competitive,” noted Kunze. “For several years, SI2 has partnered with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovative Initiative (M2I2) and collaborated on several projects with students and professors at UMass Lowell. I am honored to expand our commitment to developing new manufacturing technologies and workforce development ideas to help fuel the state’s economic engine.”
The group meets quarterly and is responsible for providing input to grow advanced manufacturing in the Commonwealth, sharing insights into the state’s priorities and identifying needs in various parts of the manufacturing ecosystem.
